Why Canada’s Approach to Iran Has Abandoned Any Sense of Realism?

The government of Prime Minister John Baird in Canada has adopted one of the most extreme postures toward Iran.  Immediately after the announcement of the Geneva Nuclear Accord  with Iran,  John Baird posted on Twitter that the “People of Iran deserve freedom & prosperity denied them by regime’s nuclear ambitions,” adding, “Until then, Canadian sanctions remain in full force.”    Canada’s position is practically similar to Netanyahu’s position, and defies logic for Canada’s national interest.   Bryan Gibson has an excellent article explaining why John Baird has adopted such unrealistic policy toward Iran. “In effect, it has turned its back on the United States, China, United Kingdom, Russia, Germany and France, while aligning itself on this issue with Israel, Saudi Arabia, and pro-Israeli congressional leaders.”
